In the north east of Iran, just 17 kilometers from the city of Rasht, there is a forest which is one of the oldest forest fields of Gilan province called the Saravan forest. This forest has various plant species which is not only rare in Iran, but also across the world.
What does Saravan Forest Park look like?
This forest park covers an area of 1487 hectors and stands up to 250 meters above sea level. About 70 years ago this park was part of the Saravan forests until 300 hectors of its land was turned into this forest park. At this time a large part of the area consists of coniferous trees that were cut down and used after reaching the age of harvest.
