Sanandaj - the city of Sculptures
Sanandaj is the capital city of Kurdistan province located in the west section of Iran. Sanandaj is a fairly new city. It was established 250 year ago, yet under its short life it has grown to become a center for Kurdish culture.

The City of Sculptures

Out of respect towards famous individuals, the city officials have placed the statues of writers, poets, athletes and prominent figures in special squares and places in the city. Due to the presence of these sculptures in the city, Sanandaj is known as the “City of a Thousand Bodies” or “City of Sculptures”. This city will always be indebted to its sculptor artists and their magnificent statue creation.
