You don’t have to watch a scary movie to experience fear and excitement. You can feel that from up close by traveling to these places that have old local tales, legends and superstitions.
Mamraz Lake, also known as the Ghost Lake is in the quietest and most pristine part of Nowshahr city. Among the intertwined trees of deciduous forests, is the strange and beautiful Mamraz Lake of Iran.
The combination of dead trees in the middle of the lake, the mist that often covers it and the sounds of wild animals in the area will definitely remind you of a horror movie. All these features in this wetland gives this area the name of “Ghost lake”.
The length of the lake is about 70 meters and its width is about 300. The lake is located in a very pristine place where you can encounter a variety of wildlife.
Mamraz lake is also registered in the list of national monuments of Iran and is one of the natural and pristine attractions of the northern region, which is less known among tourists and travelers. Next to the lake is a lush forest, and among the lake’s waters you can see the trunks of dead trees.
The lake looks as if the trees of the lake have grown upside down and their roots are out of the water. The water of this lake is very clear, and this has caused the reflection of the trees inside the lake which has added more to the visual beauty of this area.
Apart from the dead trees in the lake, the beautiful forest that surrounds it is another attraction of this area. By stepping into the forest you can enjoy the view of the towering trees, each of which has its own beauty.
Best Season to Travel
Traveling to this place in spring and summer has a special beauty due to the green trees, and the fog of the lake. In the cold seasons of the year, its beauty is not lost, but due to the snowfall, driving on the road becomes very difficult and therefore it is not recommended.
